The Sky: The Art of Final Fantasy is my favorite picture book.
I’m love art, ever since aqcuring a major in Art and Philosophy. My skills at drawing are nowhere near the masters: Yoshitaka Amano and Tetsuya Nomura. These guys both have talent, but in very different ways.
Amano’s work has an airy, wispy style to it. Every single piece feels etheral and free flowing, like the synthesis of modern surrealism and realism.
Nomura’s work is sometimes emotionally dark, and often times realistic. You can feel the action and intensity in his character models. It’s the mark of a talented mangaka.
I appreciate both styles, and The Sky: The Art of Final Fantasy brings them together.
