If a normal person saw Fran, I doubt anyone would deny that her design was for the average teenage male. In fact, Fran’s design is a fetish. Anyone can see this from her revealing costume, and no one could possibly come to an alternative conclusion. Nothing in Vieran lore would make anyone dress this way. She’s referred to as a “bunny girl” for a reason; she looks like a “Playboy Bunny” (as if it were obvious).
Most of Fran’s costume looks sexy, and that’s great. But it’s as if the developers forgot why they were designing her costume in the first place. Is there any reason why Fran’s battle armor has a transparent silk article on the front? Her bodysuit is barely armor, to begin with, as it doesn’t cover any vital body parts.
Do all Viera warriors wear teddy and stocking armor? And if that weren’t enough, she has a decorative metallic bunny tail on the backside of her armor. Of course, the most impractical pieces of armor Fran wears is her battle stilettos. The in-game lore reason states that this is due to the shape of Vieran feet. Yet, evolution hasn’t been a benefit for them in this respect? In this sense, all Vierans have a handicap since birth and must remedy this with corrective shoes.
Of course, the real reason is that the artist most likely loved the idea of seeing Fran in high heels. It does match the Playboy Bunny aesthetic she has going on. And Fran has a lot going on.
Why? Why is Fran wearing any of this? Sure, she has a great figure, and I’m sure she would want to show it off. I’m sure one of the designers thought this. It doesn’t explain why any person would wear this into battle. Then again, Final Fantasy characters aren’t just any type of people…
