Final Fantasy X introduces the Conditional Turn-Based Battle system in place of the series’ traditional Active Time Battle system first used in Final Fantasy IV. Whereas the ATB concept features real-time elements, the CTB system is a turn-based format that pauses the battle during each of the player’s turns. Thus, the CTB design allows the player to select an action without time pressure.
Final Fantasy X was the first time in a long while where we saw a change in the battle system. Then it kept changing, to evolve into the real-time battle with Final Fantasy XV.
I don’t want them to go back to ATB, or even turn-based. That’ll look unnatural to gamers. Yet, we might see them incorporate the some of the past elements into the future. I’d love to see CBT return with Final Fantasy XVI’s combat. I think it would fit well with a real-time battle structure Developers could limit certain actions.
How would you like them to see them actually make combat similar to Final Fantasy X but real time? A CBT style when casting magic and using items, in real time. Certain commands like items could use faster than magic, and action would be instantaneous.
Also, certain characters would have base stats, so mages can attack. Yet, mages won’t be as strong as a monk. All character can attack with an without weapons.
