Will Final Fantasy ever go multi-planetary?
Like in Mass Effect? I think it’s only a matter of time personally, and by then the game will achieve true sandbox status. The only real gripe is that it will seem like Sci-Fi, rather than fantasy, but if they could justify each planet as a world in a Final Fantasy game, I think they could do it.
What if the Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within cast searched for more spirits on other planets? What if we went through each Final Fantasy planet, fighting those respective bosses? I think they could make it look like a science fantasy game rather than science fiction.
Here’s how the games could look:
The first few chapters would be Aki Ross looking for the first five spirits. You control just her. We’d learn more about her, Dr. Sid, the lore, how aliens destroyed the first prototype of a Chocobo, etc. Also, how did aliens end up destroying many realistic versions of Final Fantasy monsters?
Afterward, we’d take up where the movie starts. At some point, the members of DeepEyes would search for the spirit. They get leads and take on optional missions to fight monsters. Their guns: plasma using enhanced with fire, ice and lightning elements.
We’d lose control of Aki for each mission, but gain a team of four DeepEyes. You’ll get to learn more of the team, who they are, how they interact, etc. The movie went by pretty fast, so they couldn’t really flesh out the character’s personality in detail. They could add more scenes in the game. Afterward, we go straight through to the main story.
Might they actually want the original actors, or start afresh with new voice actors and dub over their voices?
Dirge of Cerberus wasn’t as bad as I originally thought. And with what they’ve learned along the way, they could make a better shooter. Maybe another ARPG shooter? Maybe a first-person shooter? Like Dirge, they could include extra missions (since I don’t think the main story would be very long).
I don’t know if they’d want to follow up with this title. But if they did, I think it could be pretty interesting.
