I can only imagine what type of people go to gyms. I’m sure it’s filled with nothing but wannabe Sabins. You know, those guys who walk up to you while you’re working out, asking “dude, do you even lift, bro?” But if the actual Sabin showed up…he’d be the same way – to them. Imagine some buff bear with a ponytail, walking up to machine and lifting it. With one hand. Doing a bicep curl.
Hey, how much do you think Sabin can lift? Or rather, how much can he suplex?
Well, we know he can lift at least a house. In the World of Ruin, he’s holding up a house for about six minutes. Of course, it isn’t the entire house. He’s at the entrance, and some of the house’s suspension takes the weight off his shoulders. The area from the entrance, to the desk with the flower is roughly the weigh Sabin shoulders. That’s about six steps. I estimate the square foot of that distance to be about 6 x 5, or 30 square feet. The average house weighs about 2000lbs, that’s 1 ton, per square foot. That means Sabin is lifting at least 30 tons.
Now we’re also considering the train isn’t weightless. It is a Phantom Train, but it has the same construction and physicality of an average steam locomotive. Most trains weigh between 44 and 500 tons. The Phantom Train only carried some passengers but was mostly empty. Each of Phantom Trains’ car would roughly be around 20 – 40 tons. The Phantom Train has eleven cars, but Sabin releases the last five. So then, by the time Sabin suplexes the Phantom Train, the locomotive weighs roughly 120 and 240 tons.
The strongest bodybuilder might only be able to lift 250lb max or only one-fourth of a ton. Sabin can suplex an entire train. That means picking the train off the rails, lifting it overhead and slamming it down behind him. In one quick move, Sabin would have to squat, lift the train and fall backward. And that’s after Sabin grabs the train, can travel up to 126mph. Not to mention, Cyan, Sabin, and Shadow run faster than the Phantom Train, as it’s never able to catch up to them.
Sabin isn’t the only person to use the suplex. Consider Tifa has suplex Diamond Weapon. How strong would she be? Well, let’s not forget that Sabin suplexed dinosaurs in Final Fantasy VI.
Consider that one of the tallest dinosaurs is the species of the Brachiosaurus (which the Brachiosaur) is based on) was roughly 39 ft tall and about 72–74 ft long. A Tyrannosaurus rex (which the Tyrannosaur) is based on) is only 12 feet long. I count that we could stack at least 12 Tifa (who is roughly 5’5″) on top of each other’s head to reach the top of Diamond Weapon. This would make Diamond Weapon roughly ~66ft.
Also consider that the longest trains could be up to 6,600 ft.
In order words, Tifa can handle height, whereas Sabin can handle length.
All of this would make Sabin the strongest Monk in Final Fantasy history.
