Hey guys! OK, so you know how Aerith Gainsborough is a “flower girl”? Just what exactly does that mean? I know how she “sells her flowers” for a gil. But how can anyone support themselves for one gil per flowers? Isn’t one gil like a dollar, or even less, a yen? Even with a limited supply of flowers growing haphazardly in a church, I’m not buying it.
Well, actually I always do. Cloud has enough gil to spare.
In Japan, there’s a fierce debate as to what makes a “flower girl”. For a girl such as herself, living in the slums might not make Aerith as pure as she seems. She may need an unconventional job such as selling flowers. This is also why I believe she’s an escort.
So obviously, we know that Aerith will date just about anyone who falls through the rooftop of her church. It’s always risky, taking dates with strangers who fall for you. So eventually she agrees to it. But this is the first time Zack’s been to Sector 5 in the slums. So he has no idea where to go, right? Enter Aerith. So Aerith takes it upon herself to show him around. I think it’s fairly safe to assume she knows her way around the block since she lives there.
Noticing her flowers, Zack suggests she sell them. A bit forward of him to suggest she deflower her garden for money. But I think she was fairly receptive of the idea.
So, you know, she crafts a wagon and opens a business. And attached to each flower is a business card:
“I’ll show you a good time around the slums!”
Just in case anyone’s unfamiliar, like Cloud. And that, of course, is why I think Aerith Gainsborough is an escort and not a prostitute.>
“So that’s how you fool them!”
