A lively man who uses various guns and weapons in battle. He’s quietly become the mediator with his happy-go-lucky attitude.—Description
Laguna is a Galbadian soldier in the wrong profession. He wants to see the world, but as a world-renowned journalist. On twist in Final Fantasy VIII is that he’s Squall’s father. Ellone can send Squall’s consciousness into Laguna’s body. Through throwing his consciousness back into time, we get to see and control a younger Laguna to fight monsters.
In World B, Laguna is roughly the same age as when Squall first sees him. Laguna is aware that Squall is his son, but Squall doesn’t have an idea. However, they each have telltale signs they’re related:
Laguna: “All of them are. Don’t you think so? These guys carry weapons right out of a fairy tale, not to mention the magic they can use. They’ve got armor like I’ve never seen, and one of ’em even has a tail!” [chuckles] “Oh yeah, the tail guy? He sure wasn’t happy when I yanked on it. That thing is real.”
Squall: “(You…yanked on it?)”
Squall would later think about yanking Zidane’s tail. Like father, like son.
So then when Cosmos call Laguna to World B?
Probably while bed-ridden in Winhill. After inspecting a mysterious Estharian excavation site, Laguna and his squad run into some troubles. They have no choice but to jump into a pool below. He washes ashore at Winhill with a grave injury. There, a young woman named Raine (Squall’s mother) nurses him back to health.
