Yo, Yoshi P(roducer)!
I understand the need to market Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood.
I know that it’s good exposure for your investors (i.e. Mrs. Freshley’s buns, “Brought to you by Carl Jr’s”), and they can help promote your brand.
But why not create an alternate reality game?
An alternate reality game (ARG) is an interactive networked narrative that uses the real world as a platform and employs transmedia storytelling to deliver a story that may be altered by players’ ideas or actions.
I know some of us to think alternate reality games are “ancient” (circa 2004 – 2008), but there’s some potential for it. Much of the Dark Knight’s advertisement came from such an intense campaign. And those were people pretending they were “detectives”.
Imagine an alternate reality campaign that encourages cosplaying with a Final Fantasy based narrative, in the real world. Of course! It would only work! Add a geoquest filled with clues, a couple of trailers and boom! the subscription count rises!
Huh? Huh? Yoshi P. Are you listening to me, bro?
Thanks, Yoshi P!
