At the end of Final Fantasy III, all the villagers look up into the sky to see a shining light. They state:
Zhako: The Crystals…they’re back.
Princess Sara: It’s beautiful.
Elder Topapa: The darkness has gone…and a new dawn has come to the world.
It is the Light, but also the Light that was within the Warriors of Light. It’s also the Light from the Crystals. Where does this light come from?
There are eight crystals scattered across the world. Four exist on the Floating Continent, and four are found in the world below.
Most people notice the duality and wonder…
Since there are two sets of crystals…
Warriors of Light and Darkness…
And a Cloud of Darkness…
Where is the Cloud of Light?
A “Cloud of Darkness” is “a dark cloud or dark nebula is a type of interstellar cloud that is so dense that it obscures the light from the background emission or reflection nebula or background stars.”
In this sense, Cloud of Darkness is just another way to say “the Void”. So then, it would make sense for there to be a Cloud of Light to mirror it? I think so, but as “solid light” so to speak, or the light from the crystals. But then, if the Cloud of Darkness is a Void – a negation of all things – the Cloud of Light is the reversal. In other words:
the set of shared beliefs, ideas and moral attitudes which operate as a unifying force within society.
Or rather the “collective consciousness” of all things in that world.
