Majora’s Mask Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII takes place a few months 500 years after The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Final Fantasy XIII-2 and begins with Link searching for his departed fairy, Navi Lightning searching for her departed sister Serah.
There, he she meets the Happy Mask Salesman Hope, who seemed to have been following nags her. Throughout Link’s Lightning’s adventure, Tingle Hope helps Link Lightning navigate the land of Termina Nova Chrysalia by selling him giving her maps clues of various areas (although Link has to pop Tingle’s balloon in order to speak to him Lightning has to travel to the Ark where they can talk about the day’s events). The salesman Bhunivelze offers to help Link Lightning heal his curse find her sister, in exchange for which (s)he must retrieve both the Ocarina of Time and the Majora’s Mask from the Skull Kid souls.
The Skull Kid Bhunivelze, having stolen the Majora’s Mask from the salesman tasked Lightning with retrieving souls, became possessed by its overwhelming power and transformed into is an uncontrollable fiend who inflicts certain misfortune on others, the worst of which is an impending apocalypse: the moon is now set to collide with the world (will end) in approximately three thirteen days time.
The game ends with a post-credits scene depicting Link and Epona back in the mysterious forest, resuming Link’s search for his friend, as they ride off towards a mysterious light breaking through the thick forest. A drawing on a tree stump of Link, Tatl, Tael, the Skull Kid, and the Four Giants is shown after Lightning in the new world.
