Why do we all admire Tifa cross-culturally? Tetsuya Nomura created her to fit both Eastern and Western standards of beauty.
In the West, it seems like they put emphasis on the big (i.e. butts and boobs). But in the East, it seems like they put emphasis on smaller, petite sizes. But both cultures like the same thing. The compromise is Tifa, where she’s voluptuous in some areas but petite in others. Even though she’s skinny, she has curves with yet long skinny legs and a flat stomach.
Then again, the standards of beauty are cross-cultural. The Japanese and the West still admire long legs, big breast, and firm, rounded, buttocks. She has young, girly features which translate to fertility. Yet Tifa is still physically hot and mature…personality-wise.
Speaking of which, also consider her personality. She’s definitely demure, but she’s can be outspoken (like when she called Barret a “retard”). To me, she’s somewhat of a shy girl with a nerdy disposition. Tifa as a video game protagonist is both a hot jock and a nerd. Some people tend to think shyness denotes femininity and I think both cultures appreciate these qualities. Who doesn’t like a nerd?
Even though she’s not everyone’s type, Tifa’s attractiveness appeals to people of all genders, age, races, etc. In other words, some argue Nomura created an ideal video game heroine.
