Not is but can, as in able. Square Enix could take elements from Brave Exvius for the next Final Fantasy game:
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a free-to-play role-playing game developed by A-Lim and published by Square Enix for iOS and Android devices. The story follows the journey of Rain, Lasswell and Fina in their battle to protect the great crystals of Lapis. Thanks to the power of visions, it features characters that have appeared in previous games in the series, such as Cecil Harvey, Shadow and Exdeath.
When they make Final Fantasy XVI, I’m almost certain that they could include the characters of Brave Exvius. The main character Raine’s name is meteorological, usually reserved for main series titles. Give it a look. Ace and Ramza aren’t meteorological in nature; Cloud, Lightning, and Squall are. Rain is:
A knight of Grandshelt whose prodigious talents have earned him command of an airship brigade despite his young age. He harbors conflicted feelings toward his father, Sir Raegen—the kingdom’s finest until he disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving Rain’s family behind.
He’s also the main character of Brave Exvius:
Rain is the protagonist of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. A respected Knight from the Kingdom of Grandshelt, he is childhood friends with Lasswell, who unlike himself treats Rain’s father, Sir Raegen, with great respect. Together, they are granted the power of visions by the mysterious Fina so that they may save the world of Lapis.
Brave Exvius as Final Fantasy XVI because of the “XVI” in the title is just an inside joke. Some fans were also concerned that Final Fantasy as a series would become a mobile title.
But perhaps there’s some truth to all of this? I think we might be seeing a clue into a new Final Fantasy game.
First, while Final Fantasy XVI may not be a mobile game, no one said it can’t be one. Final Fantasy XII based on the Ivalice world of Final Fantasy Tactics. The former was a spin-off of the Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy XV was a soft reboot of Final Fantasy Versus XIII – itself a spinoff of Final Fantasy XIII. What if Final Fantasy XVI became a spinoff of a spinoff?
Maybe this is the title to do it? Unlike Final Fantasy Record Keeper, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius has all original characters and a new story. They might not want to make the story of Final Fantasy XVI an exact replication. So many Final Fantasy fans might be against the idea of playing a mobile game. They’d prefer something new. But in the end, they’d play it. They’d play it for the same reasons Final Fantasy fans are waiting to play the remake. If this is the main title, they’d succumb to peer pressure. They’ll hate it, even if they had fun with it, but the sales will show their approval.
Besides, the lore’s intact, and there wouldn’t be so much use in creating a whole new world. Just remove other Final Fantasy characters, change around the story and maybe include a little bit of Agni’s Philosophy…
Yes, the titular character of Agni’s Philosophy. Her background story seems packed full of emotion of a young woman gifted, or cursed. Couldn’t the awesome power and responsibility of a witch fit in this scenario?
