“So will Barret be playable in the Final Fantasy VII Remake???”
Yes. Of course, he will. At some point in the game, he has to be. Remember when Cloud faces off against Rufus Shinra? Barret, Aerith, and Red XIII fight their way down the elevator. How about in the Corel Prison, when Barret faces off against Dyne? Or in Junon? Not only Barret, but Tifa and Cid have to be playable as well. This is because Cloud isn’t playable all of the time.
But this shouldn’t be surprising to fans of the game, those who’ve already played it. If the remake is for us fans specifically, why didn’t we remember this? I understand the new younger crowd they’re marketing to wouldn’t know this. But shouldn’t you older fans, who’ve played the original Final Fantasy VII, be aware of what to generally expect? Why are you guys letting yourself be led on? We have to set a good example for the children.
The hype and excitement have shut down the critical thinking parts of our minds. Similar to what the hype and excitement did for Final Fantasy XV, again. Next thing you know, they’ll excite us about the inclusion of Materia. Seriously, they might tell us that Materia will be in the game. In this sense, you’ll be well ripe for whatever actual new thing they decide to sell you in the DLC.
And who knows what story content they’ll put behind the old paywall. I’d understand a DLC on Barret’s search for Dyne in the prison. Maybe even Aerith’s travels to the forgotten city. Or what happened to the team when Tifa was unconscious…or “busy” with a certain spiky-haired blonde guy. But we better hope they don’t simply hide the other playable characters and their stories behind DLC, like episode Gladio/Prompto/Ignis.
“But Gary, why on Earth would they do that?”
Why would they break the Remake up into parts?
…why wouldn’t they?
