So, Apsilanti84 complains that Zidane’s a terrible “ladies man”; I never see him take any girl home.
Consider that Zidane is essentially a homage to Edgar and Irvine, two known flirts. Edgar flirts with a ton of women, but for whatever reason is not very good at it. Irvine flirts with Rinoa, Quistis, and Selphie, but out of a nervous habit; he pretends to be cool, calm and collected but often chokes under pressure.
Zidane’s behavior is ironic for who he is. He’s a thief, but he can’t steal hearts. His flirting is almost a nervous trait he uses to cope with bad events in his life. He doesn’t get the girl because of he, like Edgar and Irvine, don’t flirt for the sake of finding love. They do it to ease their minds. Zidane eventually steals Garnet over, but by being himself and finally coming into his own.
And doesn’t he just suffer rejection after rejection from ALL girls in the game until Garnet feels sorry for him like a brother? I don’t think their love was sexual in nature, more brotherly-sisterly.
I doubt she felt sorry for him as a brother. But isn’t this something to say about Zidane? Looking at his background, he was never really a thief to being with. He was a war machine, so in essence, he’s like Terra and Squall. Flirting is an afterthought. But I think it’s clear that at some point of the game, Garnet fell in love with Zidane.
Plus, Zidane has no sexual organs to speak of.
